The video reeks of oversimplification. And is implying that by raising the minimum wage there will be little downside. Say Walmart were (forced) to do this; do you not think they'd eliminate more jobs to compensate? Also, it's econ 101 that increasing minimum wage devalues the dollar and will force small businesses to cut back on jobs that are merely stepping stones... on a side note it does stink that people are not getting paid that much. There's more to this than meets the eye. If anything look at both sides of the coin and judge for yourself.

Skeptic, well said. I am not surprised the "research" for this clip was done at UC Berkeley where it is perfectly adequate to distort or create facts at whim and call it research. This clip does not need a course in economics (although that would certainly help) it needs a course in philosophy, namely Logic. There are no fewer than 4 different fallacies cited as fact in the piece and it doesn't dare touch the basic premise that food stamps are simply an enticement for the poor to stay dependent. I believe the more interesting fact is that every member of military below the rank of E-5 is eligible for food stamps. Talk about a crappy wage to risk your life for. Layoff Walmart, you lame liberal student who knows nothing of the world. Want to change things, graduate, start a business, and then you can pay anybody any amount you wish.

/rolls eyes toward 'skeptic' and 'patrick'/ Golly, somehow we still have businesses that employ people despite having a minimum wage for many decades now. Somehow the economic collapse prophesied by conservatives when minimum wages were first proposed didn't happen. If a theory makes a prediction and the prediction doesn't come true THEN THE THEORY IS WRONG. Having a reasonable, fairly low minimum wage does not cause unemployment, as claimed, and we know because we did a big national experiment to find out. Personally, though, I don't think we should raise the minimum wage, I think we should vastly expand the EITC, and pay for it by taking money from people like the Walton family, which collectively does zero work and yet leeches more money out of the world economy than any other family including the Rothschilds. How do do that? Easy. Tax unearned income at 98% and earned income above $10M/year at 98%. You want money? Work for it. You want free money that you don't have to work for ("capital gains")? Yeah, we all do, tough titties, now go get a real job.

Much of that data was sourced from the DailyKos, and has long been discredited as being very incorrect.
