I like the tech, but I can't figure out if I like the design, or if it just takes "getting used to".. ?

I actually like the design. It's insane and something you should totally never do, which is why it's perfect. Elon Musk has a way of powering the imagination with designs that harken to the days when we used to dream big. SpaceShip is in the same vein as this. He's taking novel futuristic ideas from the 60s (spaceship) and 80s (this Truck monstrosity) and saying, "Well, what if we actually built that in real life".

And when California shuts down your power you can *totally* flee for your life in this thing if you happen to have a fully charged battery. Otherwise you’re screwed and gonna have to depend on someone with a real car that runs on gas.

Oh god. That's the same logic as - "I shouldn't be a web developer, because if the internet blows up, I'll be out of a job!" -_-

I'm driving to Georgia from Michigan next Tuesday. It's a 10 hour drive. Teslas are fun and all. But they're not serious cars and never will be.

Also, california literally shut down the power on people last month during raging wildfire season. You really want to have a Tesla in California these days? I think not.

You'll be surprised Dave. Embrace change as it will be inevitable!

I’m a pragmatist. I have no objection to electric cars. I just think they’re stupid and impractical because.... they are. Maybe someday they’ll be practical and obvious. But that seems unlikely. But I’ll be sure to keep them in my.... Rolodex.

Bit strange maybe, but the design looks a bit dated to me. We've seen it many times in futuristic movies before.

<rant> How can they possibly have not known those windows would break? I mean 0 for 2? I am assuming that was part of the publicity stunt. People on the internet say the glass team should be fired...I would argue the guy on stage should be fired if he didn't know for sure that was going to go as planned. There was quite a bit about this that seemed like amateur hour. </rant>

Totally. Bullet proof glass has never meant crack proof glass.
