Denise Mueller-Korenek shattered the previous land-speed record for the fastest human on a bicycle on earth. They're not attached during the speed measurement, the gearing is so extreme they need to be towed up to a certain speed that they can then maintain/build on very gradually.

I think people in the comments have a point, but then they're can also take it too seriously. People are just tired of the identity politics pitting people against each other all the time.

But it's also true that the record is kind of an odd one. I've drafted off a car on a long bike ride before. The whole thing about drafting is that it's literally doing all the work for you and pulling you along. Even though there's not a physical tow cable, there might as well be. Yes, it's extremely dangerous to try it, but just because it's dangerous doesn't mean it's particularly impressive.
