Historic Photos of the Lincoln Memorial

Over the President’s Day weekend, it was announced that the 94-year-old Lincoln Memorial is set to undergo a major renovation. The philanthropist ​David Rubenstein said he would be giving $18 million to help fix up the structure and expand the facilities. The Associated Press reports “the money will be used to fix the memorial's roof, clean the marble and improve accessibility by adding a second elevator. The park service also plans to create 15,000 square feet of visitor space tucked beneath the memorial for exhibits.” In honor of the holiday and the announcement, a collection of historic images of the Lincoln Memorial over the years, from construction to present-day.
